چکیده

SECTION 1 A 48-year-old woman presented with severe headache radiating to her neck and chest, followed by a brief period of loss of consciousness in the emergency department. After she regained consciousness, the patient described a 2-year history of right-sided pulsatile tinnitus and hearing loss. She also had a history of poorly controlled hypertension and of noncompliance with her medication. On examination her blood pressure was 239/90 mm Hg. Results of a neurologic examination were unremarkable. Brain CT showed a subarachnoid hemorrhage (figure 1, A and B).

Subarachnoid hemorrhage and intracereebral hematoma following lumboperitoneal shunt for pseudotumor cerebri: a rare complication.

Placement of lumboperitoneal (LP) shunt as a surgical treatment for benign intracranial hypertension (BIH) is generally a safe procedure, with complications like mechanical failure, overdrainage and infections. Subarachnoid hemorrhage and intracerebral hematoma were seen after lumboperitoneal shunt in a patient having BIH. These complications were the cause of the patient's deterioration. After...

Subarachnoid hemorrhage due to isolated spinal artery aneurysm in four patients.

Spinal artery aneurysms are usually found with arteriovenous malformations or other entities that increase hemodynamic stress. Isolated spinal artery aneurysms are rare. Four patients who presented with the acute onset of lower back pain underwent MR imaging, which revealed spinal subarachnoid hemorrhage. In all patients, work-up yielded a diagnosis of isolated spinal aneurysm, and operative tr...

Migrating subdural hematoma without subarachnoid hemorrhage in the case of a patient with a ruptured aneurysm in the intrasellar anterior communicating artery.

Acute spontaneous subdural hematoma without the presence of a subarachnoid hemorrhage as a result of a ruptured aneurysm is rare. We present the case of a patient with an aneurysm of the intrasellar anterior communicating artery that caused hemorrhage solely into the subdural space. The hemorrhage then migrated down the spinal canal. Our case is unique because all these 3 rare processes occurre...
